Workshop on Optics and Dispensing

India Vision Institute (IVI) organized a two-day comprehensive workshop on Optics and Dispensing for a group of over 45 Optometry professionals and students in Hyderabad, on 29 and 30 July 2016. 

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. L Srinivasa Varadharajan, Research Scientist, Brien Holden Eye Research Centre, L V Prasad Eye Institute; Ms Sandhya Shekar, Senior Program Manager, India Vision Institute; and Mr Saif Ahmed, Senior Varilux Consultant (AP and Telangana), Essilor India Pvt. Ltd. It focused on the concepts of Thick lenses & Thin lenses, Prisms, Third order aberrations and ways to minimize them, Gullstrand's schematic eye, Polarized and unpolarized light, Types of lenses, Lens materials & treatments, Frames, Basics of PALS, Trouble shooting & latest advancements in PALs.

The workshop was attended by over 45 Optometry practitioners, educators and students from Netra Mandir Optometry Institute, Mumbai; Schieffelin Institute of Health - Research & Leprosy Centre, Vellore; Netradeep College of Optometry, Beed; University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad and various other Optometry institutes and Eye hospitals across India. The participants greatly appreciated this workshop.
