Mr Hemanth Reddy from Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry (BLSO), Hyderabad, was awarded the India Vision Institute Young Researcher Rolling trophy for 2014. Six finalists presented their research projects at a Symposium held in Hyderabad on October 30, 2014 and his research project, “SMARTstereo: a novel tablet PC based application for measuring stereoacuity in the clinic” was judged as the winner by a three panel judging team.
“It is very encouraging that young scholars from optometry institutions across India are undertaking excellent research projects as part of their course, auguring well for further strengthening of research culture in optometry in India.” said Mr Vinod Daniel, CEO of IVI on the occasion.
The selection was made by a panel of experts comprising Dr Jyoti Jaggernath and Mr Farai Chinanayi from the African Vision Research Institute and Dr Nagaraju Konda from BHV Pvt. Ltd. India.
Along with a certificate, Hemanth received a travel grant of INR 5000 to enable him to participate in optometry conferences and his institute, the Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry, received the rolling trophy for the year 2014. The other five shortlisted students received participation certificates and a memento.
