Mousumi Saikia from Amity University, Gurgaon, was declared the ‘IVI Optometry Wizard of the Year 2015’. The announcement was made following the final round of the national quiz held at IVI Hyderabad on 5 December.
Eight Optometry schools across India joined the excitement of the concluding round comprising Q&A, rapid fire and picture rounds through online live broadcast. Indra Prasad Sharma from Amity University, Gurgaon bagged the audience prize.
“The IVI National Quiz provided an exciting interactive platform for Optometry practitioners, educators and students to come together to reiterate the need for constant upgradation of knowledge”, said IVI CEO, Mr Vinod Daniel, who conducted the final face to face Quiz round.
Over 30 eye care and Optometry professionals and students from across India participated in the first round held online, out of which nine were shortlisted for the second round held over telephone. The three finalists emerging following two previous rounds included: Rashmi Bhimanapati, Optometrist, Centre for Sight, Hyderabad; Mousumi Saikia, Faculty, Amity University, Gurgaon; and Suma Gunda, Optometrist, LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.
The winner Mousumi Saikia was awarded a memento, a certificate and prize money of INR 10000; while the first and second runners up Suma Gunda and Rashmi Bhimanipati received a memento and certificate each along with prize money of Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively. Essilor (India) sponsored the event ‘IVI Optometry Wizard of the Year 2015’.
