IVI launched the third batch of YLP with a two-day workshop in Hyderabad
on 13-14 June, comprising young professionals from various Optometry
disciplines. With the YLP II (2014-15) concluding in April 2015, the IVI
leadership initiative has created a pool of about 20 young leaders in Optometry
and eye care since its launch in 2013.
The inaugural
workshop focused on core leadership and management aspects along with subject
related themes including Optometry education and research, and leadership in
public health. The participants of the third young leaders program are Aloe
Gupta, Anand Kumar, Anton Decruse Waanbah, M Chandrashekher, Kiran Challa,
Paula Mehta, Pooja Singh, Prem Kumar and Soumendra Nath Ghosh.
The group undertook to work on two group projects in the areas of
creating awareness about eye care and generating support for IVI outreach
initiatives. Additionally, individual projects will also be undertaken by the
participants. The workshop also included a guided visit of the LV Prasad Eye
Institute for a first-hand experience of excellence in eye care delivery.
