About us

India Vision Institute (IVI) is an independent, not-for-profit registered trust (with section 12A,80G and FCRA of IT Act Clearance). Established in 2012, our extensive activities and programs, including vision screenings across India's far corners, have helped us attain many achievements.

For prevention of avoidable blindness, our team of experienced and qualified optometrists work to provide timely intervention in disadvantaged communities and remote areas. Through our Eye See & I Learn and Eye See & I Work programs, they are working across India to provide children and adults access to vision screenings and free spectacles.

To advance Indian Optometry, we work in awareness generation, capacity building, leadership development and promoting the research culture. Our programs, including annual conferences, ResMeet and the Young Leaders Program (YLP), evoke participation from India and abroad. We also focus on continuing development programs for optometrists and researchers with a focus on different areas - education, science and technology, developing research culture among them - to advance the optometry sector in India.

IVI has undertaken over 2,500 vision screening programs in 22 states across India. Over 10,00,000 children and adults in underprivileged communities have benefited from our vision screenings and free corrective glasses to the needy.

Optometrists are in the frontline of vision care services delivery. IVI works to upgrade their skills and build capacity as well as equip them to cope with challenges in their careers. IVI has, to date, conducted 350 capacity-building workshops and seminars, 53 research grants, eight leadership programs (YLP, 17 travel grants, and 2 higher education scholarships benefitting around 10,000 optometry professionals, including practitioners, educators, and students. We organize online advocacy, talks, panel discussions, education, skill enhancement, and leadership development programs. Our collaboration with over 50 institutes for programs has covered some 20 states and three union territories.
