  • indiavisioninstitute

Career development is a lifelong process that is influenced by a number of factors including an individual’s interests, abilities, values, personality, background and circumstances. To advance this process, IVI conducts online career counselling every year for Optometry undergraduate and postgraduate students. This year the online counselling comprised two sessions.

On 15 July 2016, the first session was conducted by Optom Nilesh Thite – Director, Educational Programs, International Association of Contact Lens Educator (IACLE). The one-hour session covered Optometry career options in a range of fields such as public health, academics, entrepreneurship, clinical practice and various options in the government sector for vocational aspirations. It included an active discussion on potential career options as well as the prospect of pursuing a Master’s in Optometry. The session was attended by 11 Optometry institutions across the country.

On 22 July 2016, Dr Ramesh S Ve – Associate Professor (Selection Grade), Manipal University, conducted the second session of this series. Dr Ramesh provided an enhanced perspective on vocational options in academics, research and technology entrepreneurship during his talk. Attended by 13 Optometry institutions across the country, the session wrapped up with a discussion on various ideas and concerns about a range of career and educational choices.

IVI acknowledges the support of 'Brien Holden Vision Institute Foundation' and 'Optometry Giving Sight' in funding the program.
