FSP with Bharati Vidyapeeth- School of Optometry- Dispensing Optics

The IVI Faculty Support Program (FSP) was inaugurated on 5 August 2013 with Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University hosting the 12 day program in Dispensing Optics. The program was conducted in three batches from August 2013 to January 2014. Each batch included two participants of dispensing optics background from colleges across the country.

The attendees were Mr Chandan Jyoti Borah- Optometrist and Academic Counsellor, Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati, Assam; and Md. Mosaib Omaer- Faculty and Consultant Optometrist, C L Gupta Eye Institute, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh; Ms Mary Lamching Phiamphu- Faculty & Consultant Optometrist, Bansara Eye Care Centre, Shillong, and Mr Subir Bhaumik- Faculty & Optometrist, VHAT Eye Hospital, Agartala; Ms Soni Kumari- Faculty, Ganga Devi Pandey Eye Hospital, Mahendergarh and Ms Lalhluzuali- Demonstrator, RIPANS, Aizawl for Batch I, II and III respectively.

The BVP faculty, led by Mr Amit Shinde, Mr Gopi Vankudre, Mr. Chinmay Deshpande and Ms Aditi Moghe, facilitated the program comprising sessions on curriculum for Bachelors of optometry in Dispensing Optics, student evaluation and assessment patterns, effective lecture delivery methods, practical demonstrations in dispensing optics module and scope for research in dispensing optics for faculty and students.

Dispensing kits were offered to all the participants at the end of the program along with their certificates. All the participants found the program to be a very rewarding and worthwhile experience. It provided them an opportunity to learn new teaching techniques and methods which they plan to implement in their respective organizations.
