Ahmedabad optometrist wins India Vision Institute Essilor Optometry Wizard 2020 award


Jogendra Rathor, Chief Optometrist at Clear Vision Eye Hospital, Ahmedabad has been adjudged winner of the IVI Essilor Optometry Wizard of 2020, a national quiz instituted by India Vision Institute and supported by Essilor India Pvt Ltd.

 

Ms Preeta Ramprasat, Associate Professor, Vasan Institute of Ophthalmology & Research Chennai, was declared the First Runner-Up followed by S. Saravanan, Clinical Optometrist at Acchuta Eye Care, Erode, Tamil Nadu.

 

The announcements of the winners were made after the final round of the national quiz held online today. The other finalist at the quiz included Vedalingam Ganesan, Clinical Optometrist, Aster DM Healthcare, Doha, Qatar. The contestants entered the final round of the quiz following their successful participation in three prior rounds. Six participants in the audience also won prizes. 

 

IVI CEO Vinod Daniel said “we are organizing the national quiz finals online for the first time due to the Covid lockdown. The enthusiasm of several hundred audience who had joined the final round was truly encouraging. We thank Essilor India for supporting us in organizing it.”

 

IVI’s national quiz is supported by Essilor Vision India Pvt Ltd and has been conceptualized for bringing together students, educators and practitioners as well as promote constant skill and knowledge enhancement. Since its inception five years ago, the Optometry Wizard of the Year Quiz has had good all-round response with over 700 participants, including educationists, optometrists and students, taking part in the quiz competition.

 

Ms Anantha Lakshmi, Assistant General Manager, Education and Professional Services, Essilor India Pvt Ltd, was also in the audience and spoke to the participants.

 

Previous years’ winners include Ms Mehal P. Rathore (2018) of Sankara Netralaya and Ms Mousumi Saikia of Amity University ( 2016). The quiz was open to professionals and students in eye care.
