Why this course?
Learn about the key concepts of Research Methodology that can be applied for eye and health care research. The course aims to explain the concepts in a "SIMPLE" way. We will integrate ethics in every step of the research process. Through this course you can learn the fundamentals of qualitative & quantitative research designs, basic statistics, research publications, writing research proposals, grant writing and Interdisciplinary Collaborative Research.

Course Instructors: The course has been designed and facilitated by a team of experts from eye health research who have decades of experience in conducting research. In this course, we bring together the finest of their learnings as a course to help young researchers meaningfully contribute to health research.

Module 1
Topic 1 - Research in Healthcare

Topic 2 - Writing research proposal
Date: May 2022
Duration: 5 hours

Demonstrate ability to develop/frame a research question
Find literature using online databases
Develop Research protocol including budgeting

Module 2 - Data Analysis

Basics of biostatistics,
Descriptive statistics, measures of frequency
Inferential statistics - Normality testing, Comparison of means/proportions - Dependent and Independent variables, Parametric tests, Non-Parametric tests
Tools for analysis: MS Excel, EZR, SPSS
Module 3 - Critical Appraisal and Writing Reviewing Articles

Conduct different types of reviews - Narrative, Scoping, Systematic review and Meta-analysis
Module 4 - Research Publications
Date: June 2022

Scientific Writing - Manuscript, Cover letter, Conference abstracts and common mistakes in manuscripts
Tools to identify relevant journals
Assist while write - Paraphrasing, Grammarly

Module 5 - Grant writing and interdisciplinary collaborative research
Date: July 2022
Duration: 6 hours

Grant writing - Why, where to apply and what do they look for
Collaboration with other disciplines and internationalization of research activities
Connecting with international Researchers
Course Platform: All the sessions will be hosted on the Zoom platform. Links will be sent to the participants. Facilitators may use breakout rooms/other options in the Zoom platform for participant engagement activities.
Completion Certificate: Each participant will receive a course completion e-certificate upon successfully completing the module. For the participants that enroll to all the modules a final course completion certificate under "Research Methodology" will be provided.
